ABS provides online access to class records. Search by IMO number to verify current class status and certification.
2. Check the certificate reference
ABS certificates carry a unique reference number. Contact ABS directly through their official website if a record cannot be confirmed online.
3. Red flags
- Certificate contact email not at an ABS domain
- No unique certificate reference number
- Classification society named “ABS International,” “American Bureau,” or similar variants not matching “American Bureau of Shipping”
