China Classification Society (CCS) is China’s national classification society and a full IACS member. It provides classification, statutory certification, and technical services primarily to Chinese-flagged and Chinese-owned vessels, as well as international clients.
How to Verify
1. Use the CCS vessel search
CCS provides online access to class records through its official website. Search by IMO number to verify current class status.
2. Check the certificate reference
CCS certificates carry a unique reference number. Contact CCS directly through their official website if a record cannot be confirmed online.
3. Red flags
- Certificate contact email not at a CCS domain
- Classification society named anything other than “China Classification Society”
- No unique certificate reference number
