Cameroon’s maritime authority is the Autorité Portuaire Nationale (APN) and the Direction des Affaires Maritimes. Cameroon is listed as an open registry by the ITF.

Cameroon has three maritime districts. The Maritime District of North handles inland transportation registrations only. A temporal ban on international registrations was imposed on 6 February 2026.

As of February 2026, 1 ship was fraudulently flying the Cameroon flag (tanker, average tonnage 22,521 GT), as reported to the IMO Legal Committee (LEG 113/6/1).
