Confirmed Fake Flag State
Clone of the fraudulent botswana-registry.com, operated by a distinct actor. The fingerprint probe found www.botswana-registry.com embedded in the page source, confirming the content was copied from the fake .com site rather than from any legitimate Botswana authority. Infrastructure is entirely different: GoDaddy hosting (AS26496) versus the .com’s Iranian nameservers and axspace mail infrastructure.
Botswana confirmed to the IMO via Note No. 45/2026 (7 May 2026, circulated as IMO CL.5203) that it does not operate either a domestic or an international ship registry. Any certificate purportedly issued under a Botswana flag is fraudulent.
